Where Liberation Meets Authenticity

2025

”Where Liberation Meets Authenticity” is a diptych series that outlines a personal journey from self-refinement to self-embodiment. Overall, these digital images work together by deranging traditional portrayals of women by shaping the self not as a doll or item of the gaze but as an active subject—a warrior, an architect, a force.

Title: Sovereign Self (Architect)
Date: 2025
Medium: Digital Image printed on Magnani Pescia paper
Size: 11x15 inches

“Sovereign Self (Architect)” is a discovery of forming identity from within rather than allowing and accepting narratives forced from the outside. Phrases within this piece like “Architect”, “Superior”, and “of her own liberation” suggest that the subject, myself, within this piece is the author and architect of her own identity. A woman actively trying to create her voice, assembling her own force, and reclaiming agency over her own image. This self-portrait is coated with disintegrated text, glitchy textures, and a colour palette of magenta, proposing both intentionality and vulnerability of self-generating. This digital work highlights the early and first stages of self-transformation, where power and instability come together within the process of becoming.

Title: Warrior of Authenticity
Date: 2025
Medium: Digital Image printed on Magnani Pescia paper
Size: 11x15 inches

”Warrior of Authenticity” symbolises the momentum that accompanies self-liberation. The eye-catching, digital distortion, and powerful violet tones heightened the subject’s dominant presence,  transfiguring their image into a statement of bold authenticity. The texts on this digital canvas, such as “Warrior of Authenticity”, “She’s Unstoppable”, and “Beware”, reflect on the topic and word of resilience. Demanding that resilience is absolutely needed in order to live in all sincerity within a culture and society that often orders conservatism. Overall, this work is speaking outwards that the self isn’t as breakable and submissive, it’s a power that forces through difficulties, trauma, healing and self-acceptance.
