Shadows That Feel Like Home

Title:

Date: 2024

Medium: Digital Image printed on Soft Gloss Rag Paper

Size: 17x 22 inches

“Shadows That Feel Like Home” is a piece that reflects the freedom that I have found and been granted at my current university, the University of Hawaii at Manoa. In the glow of this sanctuary, this place has given me a safe space where my bisexuality and goth identity no longer need to be hidden within the shadows. In the background, this piece is coated with an image of my past artwork, containing headlines related to bisexuality. With a very soft and warm glow of the sun setting near the student residence halls. The front of this piece is finally layered with a papier-mache mask project that I created in my Intro to 3D Composition class, which showcases my goth identity and aesthetics. Overall, this piece portrays how this campus became a place that I can call home, where I can unapologetically and freely show and exist as my full persona.
